Parasitic Effects in Impedance Spectrum of PEM Water Electrolysis Cells: Case Study of High Frequency Inductive Effects

چکیده

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is a powerful tool to characterize and distinguish electrochemical, electrical, diffusive processes in an electrolysis cell. The EIS response with small (mOhm) depends on components materials of the cell, but often also electrical setup, cables, connectors, leading incorrect conclusions about performance cells. These effects are assessed via short circuit measurement confirmed be external from membrane electrode assembly (MEA). In our inductive characteristic described by modified inductance. This inductance must included equivalent model (ECM) which fitting cell spectra operation (in-situ). If points showing (below x-axis Nyquist plot) excluded ECM evaluation, artificially increased ohmic resistance at high frequencies (HFR) obtained. addition, considerations other can misleading significantly incorrect. only way avoid that behavior caused setup incorrectly assigned describing properties MEA, include parasitic analysis in-situ measurements. It demonstrated this achieved using reactance. article protected copyright. All rights reserved.

Interpretation of Low-Frequency Inductive Loops in PEM Fuel Cells

Impedance models were developed to account for reaction mechanisms that may be responsible for the inductive impedance response often seen at low frequencies in proton exchange membrane PEM fuel cells. Models that incorporate reactions without surface intermediates cannot account for these inductive features. Inductive loops can be predicted by models that account for formation of hydrogen pero...
